The second edition of “Data Ethics” by Daragh O Brien and Katherine O’Keefe will be published by Kogan Page on the 3rd of June 2023.
Coming 5 years after the publication of the first edition (titled “Ethical Data and Information Management: Concepts, Tools, and Methods”), the 2nd edition revisits the themes and content of the first edition and introduces new material looking at the practicalities of implementing ethical approaches to data management in organisations.
The book is available to pre-order from the following book retailers:
Early reviewer feedback has been extremely positive.
In a world where AI is “automagically” creating a burgeoning, data-driven tsunami of often dubious information that impacts everyone, O Brien and O’Keefe’s magnum opus should be mandatory reading for everybody in the IT industry, media, regulatory bodies, and beyond. This new edition of “Data Ethics” focuses on emerging topics of vital importance in a world where ethical decisions by IT may be, in the extreme, literally matters of life and death. My only quibble is that it should be called “Information Ethics” to reflect the breadth of the topics it covers.
