California takes big step in Privacy laws

California has taken another step to cementing its reputation as being one of the most proactive US States with regard to data privacy.

Bipartisan support in the California State Assembly delivered a bill that prevents warrantless access to emails, text messages, and GPS data stored in the Cloud and on Iphones.

This highlights the trend towards greater convergence on key themes and principles in data protection law that help ensure ethical processing of data.
