Guidance Note: SharePoint Migration Governance Risks

Microsoft SharePoint has evolved significantly as a platform in recent years as part of the overall Microsoft 365 ecosystem. As such many organisations are facing the challenge and opportunity of migrating from legacy SharePoint environments to modern SharePoint Online as part of Microsoft365.

This guidance note has been prepared with input from our colleagues in Data Potentials (David Reeve) and Rockwell Business Solutions (Chloe Gilbert) to highlight key data governance, data protection, and information security risks that need to be considered in the planning of content and data migrations from legacy SharePoint to SharePoint Online.
