EU Data Protection Regulation update

From The Register we learn that there is tentative agreement already on parts of the EU Data Protection Regulation.

The key areas of agreement at this point relate to the territiorial scope of the Regulation and the restrictions on cross border data transfer. These topics are hot potatoes at the moment given the on-going Schrems case in the CJEU and the Microsoft case relating to access to email data held by Microsoft in the EU.
