Daragh O Brien
Daragh has a unique blend of business and technical acumen and experience in the areas of Information Quality, Data Governance, and operationalizing Regulatory Compliance processes (including Data Protection). His project experience spans both high level Information Strategy definition and ‘boots on the ground’ process and solution design and execution. This breadth of experience and insight over the past 15 years has resulted in Daragh being a widely respected and recognised expert in the global Information Quality and Data Governance community.
Equally comfortable discussing the technical aspects of data management or the strategic value of information to organisations in terms of bottom line impact, competitive advantage or Regulatory factors, Daragh works with organisations to help them understand the meaning and purpose of their information and how the quality (or lack of it) can affect that meaning and purpose, undermine strategic or operational goals, and add cost to the bottom line.
A recognised and award winning innovator in the field of Information Quality and Data Governance, Daragh is the author of two books on the subjects of Data Quality Strategy and Data Governance. He has lead Data Integration programmes and Regulatory Compliance teams in the telecommunications sector, coaches and trains Information Quality teams in the Financial Services sector, advises Public Sector bodies on Information Architecture, Information Quality, and Data Integration issues.
Daragh is an active contributor to the Innovation Value Institute's IT-CMF framework. He is also a Charter member and former Director of the International Association for Informaiton and Data Quality. He currently serves as Global Privacy Advisor to DAMA International. He is a Certified Information Quality Professional (IQCP) and a Six Sigma Green Belt, as well as holding formal qualifications in Data Protection and Adult Learning.
Dr Katherine O'Keefe
A connection-maker, researcher, and educator, Katherine brings her rigorous background in academic research, textual analysis, and andragogy to the subjects of Data Governance and Data Protection. Since joining Castlebridge Associates in 2013 after tutoring and lecturing at University College Dublin and St. Patrick’s College Drumcondra, Katherine has advised and trained clients in the telecommunications, transportation, education, and not-for-profit sectors.
Representative consulting and advisory projects include:
- Data protection advisory and training support to one of the largest providers of secondary and further education in Ireland.
- Analysis and design of a Data Governance Strategic roadmap for a leading Irish telecommunications company.
- Subject access request advisory and support for an education sector client.
- Identification and definition of Data Governance priorities and development of a strategy and roadmap for a large organization in the transportation sector.
- Data protection and compliance reviews for a number of clients in the Irish not-for-profit sector.
- Design, development and delivery of a variety of bespoke Data Governance and Data Protection training programmes for clients in various sectors, using traditional classroom-based, e-learning, and blended delivery methods.
In addition to her consulting and advisory practice, Katherine is researching the communication of data related concepts in plain English, or “translating data to human”. She has recently presented at an international Data Governance conference on using fairy tales to communicate change management for data governance.
She is also currently researching gamification as a solution for public outreach and education on Privacy Rights and Data Protection, with potential applications in Information Governance and Information Quailty training and management education.
Katherine has co-written public consultation documents on Data Governance in the public sector, a chapter on using Agile Data Governance in a regulatory environment, and white papers on Subject Access Requests, the privacy implications of instant messaging in a medical context, and Information Governance Strategy for the implementation of Health Identifiers.

Colin Boylan MSc
Colin Boylan is an experienced market researcher with specialist experience in Clinical and Medical research studies.
With his own firm, Fresh Perspectives, he works with a number of leading medico-pharma organisations as well as conducting general market research activites.
Colin has extensive experience in the application of research methods to effective study design and analysis to give high quality information to decision makers. He brings his expertise to Castlebridge Associates clients as needed to help ensure well governed, well defined, and high quality research and evaluation activities.
Dr Cathal Gurrin
Dr Cathal Gurrin is an internationally regarded innovator in the field of information search and retrieval.
A member of the Insight Data Analytics Research Group in Dublin City University and a visting lecturer in Tromso University in Norway. Dr Gurrin has also taught at Tsukuba University in Japan.
