Compliance Considerations for Connected and Remote Working (half-day remote seminar)

Laptop and notebook

A Seminar on Managing Remote and Connected Workplaces and Mitigating Risks when Returning to an Office-Based Environment

Introduction and Purpose

The Covid-19 pandemic has triggered a rapid move to remote working across a range of industry sectors. Future ways of working in many organisations will involve remote, connected or blended working arrangements to allow for social distancing and the protection of employees. As such it is unlikely that organisations will be able to return to their traditional employee supervision practices. The choices organisations make in terms of how they measure, monitor and manage remote and connected work configurations, and risk managed returns to the physical workplace have significant implications for future organisational culture and the data protection compliance issues and liabilities that might arise.

The seminar will provide principles based practical guidance on Data Protection issues that arise for organisations in Ireland and the EU regarding remote, connected or blended working, and a managed return to an office workplace.

Key Objectives

Delegates will understand

  • The legislative context and data protection implications for remote work
  • The technology environments of “remote working” and categories of work monitoring technologies
  • Considerations for remote vs office-based “workplace” environments
  • Risks and liabilities of decisions made regarding remote work monitoring
  • Organizational culture and remote management
  • Risk mitigation and managed returns to a centralized “office” workplace.

Delivery

Training will be delivered through a ½ day interactive online instructor-led seminar. Delegates will receive a certificate evidencing their attendance and the content covered for their own Continuous Professional Development records.
